Following the reveal of its first wheeled excavators, Kubota continues to expand its construction equipment lineup with the launch of the U145, its first-ever 15-ton crawler excavator. Developed through a strategic partnership with Sumitomo, this powerful new model marks a major milestone in Kubota’s entry into the mid-size excavator segment for the European market.

A New Weight Class, Same Japanese Quality

Based on the proven Sumitomo SH145 platform—also known in Europe as the Case CX145SR—the Kubota U145 delivers the trusted Japanese engineering of Sumitomo, paired with the signature reliability and performance Kubota is known for.

The OEM agreement between Kubota and Sumitomo covers the supply of 14–15-ton hydraulic excavators exclusively for the European market. Debuting at Bauma, the U145 showcases Kubota’s bold ambition to grow in size, capability, and market presence.

Designed for Urban Efficiency and Jobsite Versatility

With a short rear swing radius, the U145 is built for tight urban spaces and constrained work environments—without compromising on power, stability, or comfort.

Kubota and Sumitomo have also announced their intent to explore additional OEM opportunities, continuing their collaboration to deliver tailored solutions for the European construction sector.

Key Specifications of the Kubota U145:

  • Operating weight: 14.5 to 15.2 tonnes

  • Engine output: 76.4 kW (104 hp)

  • Compact tail design, ideal for urban or restricted job sites

Kubota U145: A Bold Step into Heavy-Duty Territory
